Radiographs

Radiographs

Radiographs, or x-rays, let us see inside your pet or livestock animal without surgery. With a quick series of images, we can look at bones, joints, lungs, heart size, and many abdominal organs.

For dogs and cats, we use radiographs to check for broken bones, arthritis, swallowed objects, bladder stones, heart enlargement, and signs of cancer or pneumonia. For cattle, horses, sheep, and goats, radiographs help us evaluate lameness, injuries, and dental issues that are hard to see from the outside. The images are taken right here at the clinic and reviewed carefully so we can explain what we see.

Most pets only need gentle handling and positioning; some very anxious or painful patients may benefit from light sedation to keep them still and comfortable. Once we have the images, we sit down with you, show you the problem areas, and discuss treatment options.

Radiographs are a key part of catching problems early and choosing the right next step, whether that is rest, medication, surgery, or further testing.
